I’ve never had a problem with my hair colour or the highlight jobs it has received, until one day last year, hair drunk off Danish beauty; I decided to box dye my hair and it went very wrong.
The result was a horrible orangey brown colour, like the tip of an orange Stabilo Boss highlighter made babies with a Mr. Sketch brown marker on my head, and since then, no matter how talented the hair dresser, my hair reverts back to the horrible orangey brown, child of Ms. Stabilo and Mr. Sketch colour within 2 weeks.
Because of this, I have been silently searching for a hair solution. So, when I read an article on L.A colourist Anja Burton’s ‘Ombré’ colouring technique, which is said to give hair that natural looking sun kissed look, I was convinced I found a solution.
From my Canadian born knowledge of French and my fashion knowledge of Ombré, I did find myself a bit concerned as the word, as en François, Ombré means shaded or graduated in tone.
But after a bit of Google Image research on this Hollywood craze, I noticed there seem to be two options for the Ombré look:
Option A, is just how I expected, a sort of dip dyed look, the bolder and more deliberate “I haven’t been to the Salon in 6 months” rocked by the likes of Alexa Chung, Drew Barrymore … and me after completing a 7 month round the world journey on a limited budget and opted to eat over get my hair done.
Option B, is more what I am looking for, the subtle, beachy, sun-kissed look as seen on ladies like Jennifer Aniston, Hilary Swank and Whitney Port
The question is, which option would you rock?
