Available exclusively online for £25.00 / $40.00, these limited edition digital prints are printed on FSC certified 100% recycled paper, with vegetable oil based inks and environmentally friendly toners.

‘Halo’ is inspired by Bulgarian folklore dancers’ traditional dress, which includes a crown of vibrantly coloured flowers. The crown incorporates the floral section of Leotie Lovely’s logo (designed by Kristin McPherson), which is made up of Manitoban wild prairie flowers, creating a visual unification of the two places artist Kristina Dimitrova calls home.


About The Artist 

Born in Varna, Bulgaria near the beautiful Black Sea, Kristina and her family moved to Canada when Kristina was five after her mother was hired as Team Canada’s rhythmic gymnastics coach.

Kristina lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada working full time as a virologist in Canada’s National Microbiology Laboratory. She made the aberrant jump from Science to art after struggling to find affordable art for her newly purchased home. Her passion had always been sketching, but with some encouraging words from artist and friend Celeste Christie), created a small collection which she displayed in her home, prompting friends, then friends of friends and finally strangers to commission pieces from Kristina.

KRISTINA
“Halo is dedicated to my beautiful mother Zdravka Tchonkova and I have chosen The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation as the recipient of this collaboration in honor of her. In 2006 my mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, everything happened so fast, one minute she was fine and the next she was beyond drained from chemo. Her surgery was only six days after they found a lump in her breast, they successfully removed the lump and the lymph nodes in her right arm but the doctors didn’t want to take any risks so my mother began chemo and radiation treatments, followed by medication for the next five years. It wasn’t easy, but she beat it, adding Breast Cancer Survivor to her accolades which include three three world championships, taking eight athletes to the Olympics and a nomination for the 2013 Woman of Distinction Awards.” – Kristina Dimitrova

“Kristina and I have been friends for over seven years and I have been a fan of her art since she began painting. She made me one of her beautiful stag head pieces as a gift when I moved to London and it has held a place of honor in my bedroom since. I’ve always loved the culture and folklore of Bulgaria and in our first collaboration meetings we quickly created the concept for this piece, which is a great representation of our amity and creative harmony. Utilizing the prairie flowers from my logo, signifies the province and city in which we were both raised, met, and became friends. In addition to Kristina’s inspiring mother, I’d also like to dedicate this collaboration to two breast cancer survivors, Lesley Katz and Benji Harvey, whom I hold dear, as well as all the women who have fought or will fight this battle.” – Holly Rose

Lovely is hosting a one-off, one-week-only art auction of the original painting
which created the Halo digital print for Leotie Lovely & Kristina Dimitrova’s
collaboration for a cause in aid of The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation with 100% of profits going directly to the charity.

In
conjunction with this piece, Leotie Lovely is also selling A3 or 12×18 digital printsof the original artwork with all profits from sales of the poster being donated to The Candian Breast Cancer
Foundation as well.
