Day 5 / 365
I’m not a huge
fan of telling people to replace sh*t they already have, as it kind of goes against the whole stream of my intentions. That said, these brilliant inventions will make you instantly greener and help save one of our most precious resources – WATER – so, for this round and likely a few rounds more, I implore you to whip out your wallet (water saving kitchen series to follow tomorrow).

Here’s five ways to go greener in the Salle De Bain / Loo / Washroom, or what have you …
[ONE]
Install A
Water Saving Shower Head
Water Saving Shower Head
A long hot shower
(for which I am guilty of often taking) can use 5 – 10 Gallons every
damn minute. Which is crazy town. It’s important to keep showers short and turn
em’ off while you soap up and shave down, but installing a “low-flow’ shower head means it will use less than 2.5 gallons of water per minute. Which is a step in the right direction.

Install Low-Flow Faucet Aerators
Having the tap
running while brushing our teeth/washing our faces wastes about 6 litres ofwater per precious minute, so installing aerators on your household faucets
(and turning the water off when your brushing, soaping or scrubbing) is one of
the best way to conserve water, plus it’s one of the cheapest options too.

[THREE]
Bye Bath
The bestest most
cosy guy on the planet is also one of the worst guys for water wastage. It uses
35-80 gallons of water to have one of them bad ass baths, where a 10-minute shower with a
low-flow showerhead only uses 25 gallons. If you must have one (which I likely will) keep it to a once every few weeks treat, or, as Water Wise recommends, share with a friend 😉

– Install a low-flow toilet. Flushing is the biggest water waster in the house. In older toilets one flush uses 3.5 gallons of water. Low-Flow models use as little as 1.6 gallons.

Eco Radio/Timer For Shower Sessions
My mum asked for
a shower radio for Christmas so I found her an eco version with a wind up on
it, one of these are great as they are eco friendly and don’t use any power and will keep you from
loosing track of time in that serene place that is the shower experience. You can also use a egg
timer if shower radios aren’t your thing.
