Recently, I have noticed as I flip though my glossy mags, that Juicy Couture has some eye catching print advertising. But it wasn’t until yesterday, when my beautiful British Vogue arrived in a thick bundle from Royal Mail, that I suddenly realized I might actually ‘like’ Juicy Couture.
The image that sold me was Juicy’s Spring Summer ad image (above), which is a two page spread featuring some hippie dippy chickies looking uber bohemian in their Juicy Couture kit.
Don’t get me wrong, I have had Juicy on my so-called fashion radar before. But that was back when ‘J-Lo’ lived in my hot pink disk man, my style icon was Cher from Clueless, I used ‘sun in’ to dye my hair, and wore my cheerleading uniform to school every day. Way back then, I dreamed of having a hot pink valour tracksuit that shouted ‘Juicy’ across my pre pubescent bottom…then again, I also dreamed of a pink jewel incrusted belly button ring, neither of which I got (thank god).
The weird thing about Juicy is that their brand seems to have confused itself, alongside their gorgeous vintage inspired pieces are their less lovely Paris Hilton style tees that say things like ‘More is More’. To further the confusion, their website product shots are nothing like the beautifully styled images from their advertising campaign. Instead, they look like the pictures in a Sears catalogue, leaving the clothing almost un-recognizable online.
Regardless, (though I never thought this post would come)…here are my favs from Juicy Couture’s lineup…
