I’ve come to the realisation that I need to become more organised if I’m to achieve all I hope to in the life I’m blessed to live – so – in an effort to ensure the year to come is welcomes that projected self-organisation in, I jumped online on boxing day find myself a day planner.
I’ve come to expect that with each eco product search I make I’m bound to find an aesthetically pleasing item to compete with the less conscious competitors (of which there are many), but I was surprised to find there were very few to be found (gap in the market for some graphic designers out there).
That said, three hours deep into a google/etsy/pinterest hunt I did manage to find five beauties worth sharing:
ONE. BYRON BOUND (Australia)
These bohemian beauties are 100% sustainable and individually handmade. Each piece is bound with sustainable hemp fabric which is hand dyed with eco dye. The pages are comprised of 135gsm 100% recycled FSC certified and 100% Australian made cream vellum and bound with hemp twine which is hand polished with Byron Bay beeswax. You’ll find their colourful collection HERE.
TWO. MAY DESIGNS (America)
An endless selection of customisable paper goods, each book is bound together in the traditional way with a sewing machine. The covers are made with resilient, durable, water-resistant canvas which is made from part post-consumer waste recycled paper. To top it off, each notebook/planner is made by hand in Tennessee. Their cute collections can be found HERE.
THREE. POSY PAPER (Canada)
Pretty paper products made from 100% post-consumer waste that is made using wind-generated electricity(!) Their products are printed in Vancouver, BC using soy-based inks and there are plenty of lovely designs to choose from. You’ll find them HERE.
FOUR. GONGJANG (Korea/UK)
Minimalistic but meaningful, Gongjang translates to “a craftsman who makes things skillfully” … it also also translates to “a factory where goods are made” but the first translation is better suited to these creations which are made with consideration for the environment in each step of the product’s creation. Each item is made with FSC recycled paper and printed with soy ink. KOREA / UK .
FIVE. SASHKA KRETOVA (Finland)
In true Scandinavian simplistic splendour, Sashka Kretova’s creations are aesthetically pleasing and sweetly sustainable. Each one is made with 100% recycled paper, with a sustainably printed cover made with upcycled cardboard, all bound together with durable cotton thread. Her designs can be found HERE.
